Sleeping like a baby

We are making the big transition to the crib! It has been a balancing act of trying to get him to fall asleep on his own, keep the paci in (at least till he fell asleep enough not to notice if he looses it), and getting enough sleep time throughout the day so he doesn't morf into a crab at night! So.... After about four or five nights of starting in the crib- last night he slept thru the night in the crib the whole time!!! Can't even explain how thrilled I am! Yahoo :). Now...hoping its not beginners luck!

picture crazy

the title was your warning... this post is picture heavy, proceed if you wish!

Landon has been the joy of our lives the past four months.  We couldn't imagine life without him.  He is beginning to be curious about his world and loves taking it all in.  He is the most smiley kid I have ever seen and if just looking for someone to make him giggle.  He hasn't quite figured out the thumb yet, but is persistent about trying and trying again.  We haven't gotten the sleeping or napping in the crib yet-- but we are no our way, trying one step at a time to make the transition... tips are welcome on this topic!  So after four months I am not sure if I can say motherhood is all I expected or not, but it sure is the best thing I have experienced thus far.  Love my little guy.

enjoying the world with his feet touching the ground

Four months

I can't believe it already... Four months! No way, my how it has flown by. We had his check up on Thursday- he weighs in at 13 lbs 15 oz and is 24.75" long.  Only the 25th percentile for his age...but if he has any of his mothers genes he will be bursting forth by the next appt! Here are a couple pics from this week- we will do our four month photos this afternoon :)

And in honor of Calvin graduation, four years ago now (wow, I feel old)!

the best day yet

Mother's Day- what a good day, and it all started a year ago when Kyle and I found out that I was pregnant on Mother's Day last year.  After a healthy pregnancy and birth I can't explain how blessed I have been for the past three months with my little man.  While our lives are forever changed I wouldn't have it any other way. Landon has brought us so much joy its hard to explain.  His smile will light up the room and his giggle is contagious :)
I have been  back at work for a month now and things couldn't be going any better.  I cut my hours to three days a week and I have found that it is a perfect balance for me.  While I LOVE my new job of mommy hood, I have found that having another outlet and purpose at school has made me appreciate my time with Landon even more than I did before.  Being a mom is something that I have always wanted and before actually experiencing it I would have thought that I wouldn't want to go back to work and stay home with the baby.  However, after getting back into the swing of things at school I LOVE it there too.  I love the work I do, the students in the middle and high school and especially my co-workers.  It is so nice to have a good balance, neither working or being home becomes a 'daily grind'.  I think it is pretty rare these days to be satisfied with both work and home life-  I count my blessings every day.  I am also grateful that Kyle works so hard to support our family that I am able to work a little less than I did and stay home with Landon.
So, for Mother's Day we went down to Newport RI. We were going to go on Saturday but because of the rain we decided it would be better on Sunday, only to wake up to rain on Sunday too.  BUT, Kyle said that we would just make the best of it anyways.  We headed down to Newport for breakfast, we ate at Benjamin's restaurant, it was SO delicious :)  After breakfast we toured around the island in the car while Landon took a little nap, we drove along the ocean side and gawked at all the mansions and imagined life back when they were being built.  It is hard to imagine all the manpower that it required.  It must have been spectacular.  We also walked downtown and strolled through the shops while the sun started coming out.  By noon it was perfectly sunny and time for ice cream!  Nothing could have been better, and to top it all off, a waffle cone from Kilwin's with toasted coconut ice cream.  YUM!

and to top off an awesome day... he slept through the night again :)  that makes for one happy mama!
